Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador has assisted 37 families - a combined number of more than 115 children - in becoming first-time homeowners. Habitat NL brings together community organizations, corporate sponsors, and people of all backgrounds to build hope, pride and homes for families who would otherwise not qualify for a conventional mortgage.

Prior to each build Habitat for Humanity NL puts out a Call for Families.  Families falling within a certain income level and other criteria are invited to apply.  All eligible applicants are considered by the Family Selection Committee.  The process involves reviewing documentation, personal interviews, as well as other means.  A Release of Information Consent Form helps ensure the accuracy of information submitted with applications.  After a thorough review process, the Family Selection Committee recommends Partner Families to the Habitat NL Board of Directors who have final approval.

All applications are kept during the selection process, and all applicants are informed of the status of their application. If approved, the application will remain on file.  All personal information will be returned to the applicants who have not been selected as a partner after a 30 day notice.  Applicants can re-apply in the next Call for Families.
